After graduating from law school, Alexander Manson became the first lawyer in Prince Rupert. In 1916 he successfully entered the world of provincial politics and became an MLA. He became Speaker of the House in 1921. The following year he was appointed as both Attorney-General and Minister of Labour and served in this dual capacity for six years.
